Having spent nine years with Deloitte, in 2014 Paul Masters left Deloitte Australia at the peak of his career. Up until June 2014, Paul was the Tax Leader for Deloitte Private and the National Leader of Clients & Markets. He was also the National Leader of the Recruitment Industry Group. Paul retired from the partnership as one of the most senior Deloitte Private partners in Sydney in order to establish Sovereign Private.

Paul has built a first class reputation among high net worth individuals, corporate Australia and the recruitment industry. As a highly respected tax specialist, Paul has contributed significantly to the recruitment market in particular, as adviser in some of the largest deals across Asia Pacific. His tax structuring work for companies, such as Chandler Macleod; Peoplebank; Ambition; Rubicor; Talent International; and talent2 as well as numerous private businesses, has made him the go to person in Australia for tax planning in the recruitment industry.

Paul’s vision is to provide best tax and accounting advice to clients through personal interactions, meaningful consultancy and holistic advice.

Sheridan Green

Partner

Sheridan’s career spans in excess of twelve years, during which she has built an exceptional depth of knowledge in field of tax and accounting for Australian businesses. Sheridan has spent much of professional life providing services to High Net Worth clients. Sheridan was previously a Tax Director at Deloitte Private.

While Sheridan continues to provide advice to High Net Worth clients she is also focused on the private recruitment sector sharing Paul’s vision to give clients a deeper level of service, in a more intimate
business environment.

She holds a Masters of Law (Taxation) and a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Accounting) and a Bachelor of Law.

Our Mentoring Program

There are two things that make a great practice: People and Clients. At Sovereign Private both are as important as each other.

Whether you are an undergraduate or a director, all our people are mentored by senior partners. Providing all staff with mentoring session every 4 to 6 weeks, our mentoring program is world class. A vital tool used at the mentoring sessions is a career plan.

Staff prepare their career plan every year in July and set out their aspirations for the year ahead. This could include a promotion, additional study or changing the type of work they are doing. The plan also includes a clear concise set of KPIs required to achieve their aspirations. The KPI’s are always clearly measureable and it is easy for the staff member and the partner to evaluate whether the employee is on track to achieve their goals. If there are deficiencies, the partner helps the staff member get back on track. All plans are customised to individuals and prepared by the staff member and partner working together. All staff know exactly how they are tracking and where they are going.

Although there is a strong work ethic in order for staff to fast track their careers, we still have fun. Whether it is pizza making, cocktail classes or barefoot bowling, we have numerous functions throughout the year where staff celebrate their successes.
